Below is the short list of the BASIC effects that are used for the production of
lessons on the website and our products. Sometimes other effects are used
but we have setup pages for each lesson that can fill in the blanks on those for
you. As you'll see we keep it very simple around here, nothing fancy at
all. This page is a general overview of effect types and general uses.
If you have a processor or use a POD type thing etc. and prefer that type of
setup over pedals, that's fine. The suggestions for how to use each effect
type and general settings given in the various lessons here on our website and
in our products will still apply for the most part.
Effects settings shown are NOT the settings used.

Great Chorus for
a little extra cash the chorus ensemble is a good buy as well. But
frankly the CH-1 does the job just fine, even for sounds like Cabo Wabo,
it's no problem at all.

The most common Digital Delay on Earth. The DD3 is fine for V H use. DD6 is a great toy but you don't need the extra features to pull off most VH stuff. DD6 comes in handy for crazier delay stuff and backward looping. |

Nothing short of the best Flanger I've ever used, pedal or rack unit. This Flanger does MXR Better than MXR does itself. Easy to setup and with really cool gate pan features and ultra flanging it works great with chorusing. |
| Boss Super Octave OC-3 | Boss PS-5 Super shifter | MXR Re-issue Phase 90 | |||

The OCTAVE is an often over-looked effect. While the super shifter can do what this octave does it doesn't do it as good as this octave does. This octave is very smooth, its poly mode can turn your guitar into a fretless bass if you want it to. |

The Super shifter is what I call the poor mans harmonizer. This is a great pedal though and a steal at how inexpensive it is. It harmonizes very well, but I do suggest spending the extra 70 bucks and getting the expression pedal. Pedal harmonizes best off the 3rds, but pitch shifts seamlessly. |

This is the Re-issue Phase 90 that I use on most of the site stuff. It's fine, though not as warm as the older scripts model. This pedal is not the best for V. H.. BUT it is the best to mimic sounds from bands like Boston, and Queen or cool funk tones. Yes I'm aware Boston doesn't use this phaser to get their sound so no emails please. Boston may not use it but YOU can, and it will work great. |

You all know what the VH model looks like I'm sure. |
This VH Model Phase 90 is a mind blowing Phaser. Better than the old Scripts model I think, because it does both Scripts sound and Newer Reissue sound. Each have their uses, I think. Well worth the money, though I think it's over priced for what it is. This Phaser is a 10 on a 1 to 10 scale as Phasers go.

The secret
ingredient to any Produced finished product sound at home in your own
basement. Compression is a must. It helps even everything out
and it can also fatten a touch if used properly. This is a great
compressor that is a little better I think than even the Boss Compression
Sustainer. This pedal is well worth the low price you'll pay for it.. Tip: Plug it into your FX loop not on the floor with other pedals.. |

In my book Cry Baby is the only wah worth having. I love these wah pedals they have the classic sound from the 60's that I'm into where Wah is concerned. If you want to do "White Room" from Cream or even the V. H.. Wah sounds the Fasel model of the Cry Baby is the way to go. Other models like the Zak Wylde model are awesome too, so try them all out to see which model you like best. |

You all know what the VH model looks like I'm sure. This VH Model Flanger is awesome.. While I think the Unchained switch isn't really needed as it's not that hard to dial an MXR Flanger in. I think it's a darn fine Flanger. I think it's a shame that we need a celeb model to get something good out of a company. Things like this Flanger should be the norm, not something special. Just the same if you're an Ed head, and you have a couple Hundred extra Dollars laying around, it's a Kick Ass effect that will surely help you find the sounds on many VH tunes, and or VH style improvised tunes of your own... I use this pedal on a few tracks here on the site, and it's all over the Vin Heuton II CD. In fact it opens the CD now that I think about it.. Definitely a 9 on a 1 to 10 scale. I also give many settings on my site for standard MXR Flangers for VH sounds, which all translate to the VH model nicely. So if you want to bypass the Unchained switch thing you can get ATBL type sounds with it nicely too... Well worth the
money, but as always I think it's over priced for what it is. Part
of what we're paying for is the logo rights, the name rights, and all
that.... People won't buy something unless there's some sort of
slogan or hype with it, so that's why all that is needed.. (sad, but
yet a true commentary on our society) Just the same 180
something dollars for a couple capacitors and some stripes is a bit much I
think... Can't live without it though, gotta have it if you're an Ed
head, and they know that.... lol.... To be honest if
they charged 300 bucks they would probably still sell just as many...
Those stripes carry a lot of weight with young guitarists... And for
good reason... Again, Dam fine pedal, get one if you can, I highly
recommend it... There's also a post / review about this pedal in my
forum where I talk about it a little more..
