People we like in Hollywood – Part 1 – Jane Levy

Actress Jane Levy - IMDB Image
Alright JFRocks.com / Jeff Fiorentino Guitar fans, your friendly neighborhood Zoe here. This is a brand new section of the BLOG that I’m starting and calling “People we Like in Hollywood“. I’m going to start this blog series with an obvious choice, our favorite actress here at JFRocks.com & Story City, Jane Levy  We adore Jane here at the site, and I’m opening this blog section with her in part because of her talent and in part because I’ve been putting some Suburgatory episodes in the blog recently to help turn our large audience on to the show and give it a promotional bump so to speak.

I asked Jeff ever so nicely if I could start a section in the blog where the girls (as we’re called around here) namely myself and Erica Reese would talk about the people we either like and/or have worked with here in Hollywood. Just frivolity and opinion not rewrites of Wikipedia pages, nothing to crazy.  Probably do one on Nicole Fiorentino too (of course), and a bunch of other people.  No big deal right?!

Jeff of course said NO! :( (grrrr, no matter, we don’t actually listen to him anyway.)

Jeff is super nice but his first response is always NO when it comes to things Erica and I want to do with his brand, career, car, or home. In his defense E and I have burned him a few times, such as the great birthday incident of 2010 (which not unlike Suburgatory’s Witch of East Chatswin must never be spoken about). I know Jeff is afraid I’m going to piss someone off by getting all critical and that’s not what these posts are about. (although nobody can piss people off like I can ;) it’s a gift) These posts are about “People we LIKE, in Hollywood”, this is very light, sarcastic, positive stuff. Did I say sarcastic?

(Hypnosis begins here) “Listen to me, you must like and support Jane Levy, I command you, buy everything she does, buy it, now!!”

Jane C. Levy, (like that, I threw the C in there ;) many of you probably know Jane as Tessa on ABC’s Suburgatory. Jane is an awesome actress in my opinion, and a hell of a nice gal too.  Many Thousands of you have noticed (by the way folks no need to write in for every little thing we do) that we’re linking to some of the Suburgatory episodes here in the JFRocks blog. Some of you asked why, citing that they’re on Hulu or ABC. (thanks I knew that) We’re doing this because we have a following that’s over 1 Million strong and I wanted to use that to turn some people onto the show who maybe didn’t know about it. I’m nice like that.

I am very proud to say by my best count we’ve garnered Suburgatory a few Thousand new well deserved fans so far. But I think we can do better people. ;( :)

I’ve only just begun!! I’ve used some discretionary funds from our “slush-fund” account to have 6, 50 foot tall Jane Levy wavy wind dolls (like the ones in used car lots with the long wavy arms) wearing Suburgatory shirts placed at key intersections throughout West Los Angeles and the Valley.  (too much?? Maybe :D )

OK so here’s the thing, Jane Levy is great, she’s talented, just as cute as a button, and one of the only gals I might be taller than. I do however want to shoot the person who wrote her IMDB page.  (a-hem I was just informed that someone edited Jane’s IMDB bio to be a bit more grown-up and professional, so the next couple sentences may be a wee bit out of date.)  Jane Levy’s “ORIGINAL” IMDB page in summation told us that she quit acting and played soccer?!  Now I know there’s more, and I’m just being cute but news flash to IMDB, nobody ever clicks the “see more trivia” link, so that blurb is about all anyone reads, so open with the good stuff. (Hint, JV Soccer, not that interesting)

There is of course much more to Jane Colburn Levy than her (formerly) sparse IMDB bio snippet would have us believe. I’m sure her life is far deeper than just acting, quitting acting, soccer, and then acting again. I’m sure she has likes and dislikes, a favorite color, and I bet even some moods and self-doubts just like the rest of us. I hear celebrities also pee like the rest of us. (Crazy right?!) I’m not here to re-do her Wikipedia page and I don’t much care about her personal life because I’m not a celebrity follower, if I was I would be all set, I live in Malibu, I have 20 of them on my street alone and if I run into Giada from Food Network at Ralph’s one more time I’m gonna scream. I have my own life to deal with. I have a dog who hates me, and my boyfriend Danny seems to think I don’t need sleep. I’m simply here to say why I like Jane, why I think she’s talented, and why I think she’s going to have a brilliant career IF she doesn’t screw it up, as many do. The last thing I ever want to see is Jane Levy asking me if I want paper or plastic while I’m in line at Ralph’s with Giada. :(

That’s not to say that Jane’s career isn’t brilliant already or that she will ever mess up. Who am I to talk. I’m not the lead or even the secondary on a TV show on a major network.

Truth is Jane is doing great, especially since she seems to have come straight to Hollywood from JV Soccer. That’s just amazing!! Fact is most of us who work here for Jeff at JFRocks.com and the Publishing company as well as my other friends outside of work just do walk-ons. We play the perp, or witness #4, or witness #4′s cousin who knows the perp but still doesn’t have any actual lines!

Jane Levy has a certain something that the camera and audiences love. There’s all these people comparing her to Emma Stone out there. What a bunch of turd that is, stop that people, you’re punching Jane in the stomach every time you do that. It’s never good to be lumped in with another actor too closely. The “oh she looks just like so and so“B.S.. I call it the geek of the week scenario. What that means is the Emma Stone look might be hot now, but in 2 years it may not be. That would put Jane out of work if she’s too closely tied to that balloon. For awhile it was Zooey. Everyone had to look like Zooey. Girls all over LA were dying their hair Black, getting weird bangs and asking “is that rain?” with rolly eyes of course right?! Look when people say Jane is like Emma Stone I almost feel bad for Jane because it diminishes her identity as an actress. You want to be the one others are compared to, not the other way around. It’s hard enough out there without your identity being crushed under the weight of someone else who’s more established.

In short, if Jane Levy can get away from the Emma Stone mold (which I think she will at least a little bit with the Evil Dead project) and create her own mold she’ll do fabulous. If not, she may kinda be screwed. At least screwed as far as expanding her career beyond some generic Emma-like actress picking up the crumbs left behind by Ms. Stone. For real success, I firmly believe Jane will have to lose the “Stone” that’s wrapped around her neck at least by public perception anyway and become a Stone-Free Levy. (lol, I’m copyrighting that, so don’t try to use it people.)

Obviously I like to be sarcastic and joke around. Seriously I have high hopes for Jane C. Levy, and I hope she has high hopes for herself. I kid around with the Soccer digs, but in all honesty one of the keys to being successful in the entertainment industry has nothing to do with talent, or even luck, or even who you know. It’s the often forgotten ability in Hollywood to laugh at one’s self, to not take yourself too seriously, and to have “gratitude” for where you are and what you’re doing. I doubt Jane is too into herself but anyone who works in Hollywood knows that you see the people that are too into themselves all day long. In the end they usually they end up drinking too much or getting an addiction of some sort, or at the very least they’re just plain old assholes.

Sure Hollywood is a pain in the ass. It’s hard to tell who your real friends are because everyone wants to know you. If you’re an actress you’re either too fat, too thin, wrong height, wrong hair color, too cute, too ugly, or just plain not right for the part, OR someone is breathing down your neck about budget while you’re trying to actually do good work. All of that aggravation doesn’t mean that it’s not all kind of silly when you step back and look at the big picture.

As an actor all we’re really doing is getting up in the morning and playing pretend. A grown up game of cops and robbers, and some of us like you Jane Levy get to do that for a living. All of us though are living and working in a place that only 1 in a Million people get to experience, you’ve got to be grateful for that. The universe gives, but it also takes away and can send us hurling back to JV Soccer as quickly as we arrived.

……..and that would suck. :(

I envy Jane Levy, she’s got a shot to do it right, my guess is she will. Provided she plays it smart. All of us here at JFRocks.com wish Jane HUGE SUCCESS!  The crew here at JFRocks.com and our friends are all over Hollywood, some in music, some executives, some actors/writers.  All of us either have been there, or are still there, so we get it.  If there’s ever anything any of us can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask.

End

    Jane Levy Searches Up
Jane Levy searches on Google according to Google’s keyword tool have gone up 500% since your boy Jeff Fiorentino produced his Suffer the Bitches song track. I love this post Zoe and I agree with you 100%. I hope Jane Levy appreciates the Colbert Bump so to speak that you gave her with this post. jfrocks.com and Jeff hold a lot of weight with the online community and in spite of the fact that you wrote it Zoe this post is all over the message boards. Great post, very funny, and on a great actress. Far as I can tell all of Jeff’s fans wish Jane great success as well.

  3. Ann says:

Jane Levy and the Emma Stone-Free Levy too funny

xoxoxoxo to Zoe. Don’t know if you’re aware but Jane’s IMDB snip teaser has been changed, it no longer talks about soccer. ha ha lol I don’t know if that had to do with your post of if Jeff or someone ran into Jane somewhere but I just found it very funny that it had been changed. lol

Zoe I speak for all of Jeff’s fans when I say that we want to hear more from you in the blog. You are so funny and cute.

    :) :):):)

  4. Mary Tilbury says:

I’m Jane’s mom. You have written the most truthfully about Jane. She is an amazing actress and one hell of a soccer player. She is one great kid and I am one luckily mom. She is going to do great things.

    • Zoe Jacques Zoe Jacques says:

Hi Mary Tilbury Jane’s mom, gosh you’re cute!!

:) Thank you so much for your comment. We adore Jane here at JFRocks.com and Story City, we promote her all over the web, Twitter, Facebook, our JFRocks.com news feed etc. She is so talented and seems like such a nice person based on what we’ve seen of her tweets and stuff. Oh and I’m glad to hear her soccer talent is there too!! ha ha a gal has gotta have something to fall back on right? I totally agree that Jane is destined for great things, probably more than even she realizes.

      Thanks for reading my post,

    • Angie Simms (Crestwood E.) says:

      OK 4 things.

      1. I am now Jane Levy’s mom’s biggest fan!! I think Jane is lucky to have such a great mom. I know first hand being an actress that without the support of a good family most of these young celebs as Zoe and the jfrocks.com crew well know end up going down a bad path of either arrogance, or destruction. I would be so sad if that happened to Jane. Very sad actually as I’ve heard nothing but nice things about her around town. Nice will get her far. Of course too nice will not and she’ll end up in a bad spot. Like you say Zoe, it’s a balancing act that we all must play.

      2. Zoe you’re funny and we love you at Crestwood. But you already know that don’t you, you little cutie-pie ;)

      3. Jane Levy is awesome. Just had to say that again! btw I’m with Zoe, glad she quit soccer in favor of acting.

      4. Don’t know if my favorite high cheek boned guitarist Jeff Fiorentino (ahem) reads these things or not but if not Zoe tell Jeff I/WE loved Banning Reality. OMG I think we burned out our mp3 copy and need to download another. :)

xoxoxo to all of you, and best to my new favorite person, Jane Levy’s mom

      • Michelle Carrigan says:

Jane Levy is great she has so much potential. And it’s so nice to see a gal who isn’t all leggy and model-like being successful in Hollywood. I love your article Zoe, and I too think Mary Tilbury is cute as heck. So neat that Jane’s mom reads stuff about her. xoxo to Mary T.

I know we’re not supposed to post about Jane’s personal life here based your recent tweet Zoe, BUUUT I hope Jane takes the advice in this article about being smart seriously. I’ve never been more disappointed, I thought she was more focused on being a success. What I mean by smart is more time focusing on career and less time focusing on silliness like “secret” relationships. There’s time for boys later and in my opinion being married at 23 is just plain dumb considering the success rate of young relationships and how much money Jane is probably worth. Now is the time for her to take over the world. Relationships are a distraction and have the potential to get in the way of that. Too much oxytosin coursing through her veins I guess. I dunno.

There’s my two cents. But I speak as a 30 year old woman who was also married around 20 or so and I would give a Billion dollars to have that wasted time back believe me.

So like I said I hope Jane Levy stays focused on career. And hey, maybe just try a boyfriend next time. :) ;) god knows I wish I had thought of that for my first marriage. :(

        :)

  5. Deanne says:

Jane Levy’s Mom is so cute

xoxo to Jane Levy’s mom Mary by the way. Good to note that it’s not just jfrocks.com that thinks Jane is great it’s also jfrocks.com fans. So cool you commented. What a great mom!

Now Zoe as for you. I don’t agree with Ann. Look I’m a Jeff Fiorentino die hard fan. AAAAND I’m very familiar with the humor of you jfrocks.com peeps. You’re always very funny. BUUUUUT ZOE!! I expect more from you than Stone Free Levy? Really? You know it’s spelled Levee right? ha ha ha :)

Love you guys, keep up the great work. Wish I was lucky enough to live and work in Hollywood like all of you!!!! But at least I get to reap the benefits of all of your hard work. :)

    D.

    • Zoe Jacques Zoe Jacques says:

ha ha thanks Deanne!! Yeah OK OK so Stone-Free Levy isn’t my best work but it is important that Jane free herself from being compared to Emma too much. But like I said Evil Dead is a good start in the right direction. I just hope she doesn’t get labeled as the horror princess like what happened to a good friend of mine. Horror is a tough mold to break once you get labeled in it. 1 horror flick is cool, being in 2 horror flicks is fun, doing a 3rd horror flick is the risk of a career beginning. Which can be looked at as good and bad, depending on what she wants for her career.

    Jane Levy RULES
    Jane Levy’s Mom RULES

    love your post zoe!!!!

  7. Andy Rubin says:

Man I don’t have anything to say about Jane Levy she’s cute and all but man I’m more appreciative of the 2 songs that came out of her existence. I just downloaded Jeff’s songs Suffer the bitches and Fake Jane Levy and holy sh*t is all I can say!!!! Jeff Fiorentino rules the F’in world!!!!! Man you are awesome!!!!! \m/

Question: I don’t know if Jeff Fiorentino even reads this stuff but maybe Zoe could forward this question to him. Jeff, any reason why you didn’t do a song titled after the Suffer the bitches Suburgatory episode itself which was called The witch of east Chatswin? Would have been a great song for last year’s Halloween I think.

Long live jfrocks.com !! you guys have a new super-fan big time!!

    • Zoe Jacques Zoe Jacques says:

Andy Jeff does not usually read my posts although lol he’s very familiar with this one as he gets asked about it by everyone he runs into here in Hollywood lately. ha ha. poor guy. lol I will forward your comment on to him, and I’m certain he will respond to you.

btw thanks for reading my article. :)

    • Boy do I ever know about this post. You have no idea!! Andy, thanks very much for your comments I’m glad you like the songs. To answer your question actually Suffer the Bitches was written and recorded on December 14th, 2012. I was working on something else during the actual Halloween season. We did a rock version of the Addams Family theme since JFRocks.com’s co-creator is Keith Coogan who is the grandson of Jackie Coogan who played Uncle Fester on the show. So we did a nod to Keith and his fam for Halloween 2012.

I doubt I’ll write a song called The Witch of East Chatswin, unless there’s a reason to, which is highly unlikely although with the year I’m having stranger things have happened. LOL I imagine I could come up with a pretty cool riff off of that theme though. I will say that if I had written the song I would likely have called it The Bitch of East Chatswin, rather than use the name of the actual episode. Has a little more Rock and Roll edge to it that way..

Again, glad you liked Suffer the B, and Fake Janes. They were lots of fun to record. We had the most fun with Fake Janes I think. That was a very fun night, lots of laughs for sure.

Also, make certain that you have the latest versions of those songs downloaded. I made some edits to Fake Jane Levy in particular because it was picked up for a number of things including a car commercial here in the states, and they wanted a couple modifications, which I reluctantly did for them. I put some links below for you. –
