Intro part
1
Note: Tabs below are for
what I did on the Video Lesson intro jam.
The mp3 track may differ slightly, but I added any additional parts done on the
mp3 to the bottom of the page. The mp3 vs. the Video lesson version is a
good way for you to see something go from raw to more refined. The video
lesson was a take 1 idea that I just ran with and rolled video. The mp3
was the same parts but built around the feel of a four count instead of free
time. This is also maybe a good demonstration of what the difference would
be between say a live version and a studio version of a song section like this.
The drums on the mp3 should help you put this intro's feel into perspective.
But I encourage practicing it free time as I did on the video lesson. Play
it how you feel it. Like I always say, feel free to embellish at will,
this is only an idea for you to spring board off of. This is also not in a
key that Ed would use for an intro like this. He would probably have made
the E an E Major instead of the minor I used. I base that only on
observation, nothing more.

Bonus
On the mp3 recording of
this with the bass and drum track I added in a little scale up transition just
before I went into the NON tap harmonic part 3 of this intro. Basically
this is something that works nicely for solos too. The tab for what I did
is below but basically it's a G Major scale but technically it's an E minor
scale that I started on the G instead of an E. However you want to slice
it the tab for it is below.
