Jeff's Lesson Notes

"Women in Love inside a Pleasure Dome intro"
(Website version)

For this lesson we will be continuing our look at VH rhythm and riffing.  In this lesson's case it will be a look at intro style riffing.  I don't mean hooks or catchy riffs here, I mean intros, little interludes that start songs.  VH was big on these back in the DLR era.

This lesson is a Vin Heuton track intro.  The Vin Heuton track itself is called, Women in love in a Pleasure Dome.  This intro is loosely, Very loosely, based on the intro to VH's Women in Love and pieces of it resemble the opening portion of Pleasure Dome hence its name, Women in Love in a Pleasure Dome.

I have put this in a minor key as that's a Vin Heuton thing and well, .. I'm Vin Heuton not V.H..  VH would probably rather do this in a Major key but then you never can tell.  Never the less it's an excellent lesson I think on how to make up stuff and just play like this.

I will give you an excellent lesson on the tap harmonic and muting techniques used in this Vin Heuton piece.  My tip of the day is that you remember the chords we use here.  They come up often in VH style playing.  Especially in intros.  And you only need to hear them once to pick them out of future songs.  Or any actual VH track you might be trying to pick up.

Lesson

Below are some open drone chord VH style things you can use to create from and also learn actual VH stuff from.  As mentioned on the video lesson.  Your own creativity is your only bound.  You have to tinker with these things and experiment and see what works.  All Vin Heuton examples are just that, examples to show you the lessons in play.

Most of these can be slide anywhere.
