Jeff's Lesson Notes

"All day and all of the night"

This lesson is the first installment in our online lesson series that VH'izes non Vh cover songs.  Meaning songs that VH never did, and or aren't by Vh to begin with.  There is a lot to take note of with the lesson example track.  VH was notorious for not only putting their stamp on any cover song they did, but often they re-wrote, re-arranged, and added parts to or took parts away from the cover songs that they did remakes of.

Well our Vin Heuton version of the Kinks classic, "All day and all of the night" does all of that and more..  I've totally VH'ized it, I've changed the key, I've added riffs where there were none, and I've also completely re-done the solo portion and added 8 bars to it, taking it in a whole new direction.  Again, I tried to do everything that VH would do, and in some cases I did a bit more, because I was having fun with the riff..  The Kinks have some great riffs.  I just happened to pick one that VH never did, as I thought it would make for a better lesson.  A lesson which I think will be a fitting, and kick ass opening to this lesson series.

This will be a very informative set of lessons for those of you interested in song writing, or interested in just tweaking cover songs a bit.  On the lesson video I will talk about what I did to this track, as well as teach you how to play it.  But, really what's important isn't playing it, but understanding what I did to the original track.  It'll be helpful if you can get your hands on an mp3 of the "Kinks" "All day and all of the night", so that you have something to compare the Vin Heuton version to.
