Intro

Note:  On the lesson Track Edmund Vin Heuton is in your Left speaker.  While a Sammy Hagar like character is portrayed in your Right speaker.  I will only tab both parts if I have to.  Otherwise assume that I'm tabbing the VH style parts.

This riff repeats throughout the track with little or no change.  I will only tab it once.

Verse

The Sammy like character from our right speaker holds down the E power chord, while Edmund Vin Heuton does fills.  However it's all about the timing with these fills.  Rarely do they come in on the 1 count of anything.

Chorus chord pattern

This is usually done by both guitars unless a lead is happening over it.  The chords are tabbed below, the pattern itself is pretty self explanatory from listening to the mp3.

Fill #5

Over the main riff

These two screams are very typical of VH.  It's all about the pick placement.  Especially the 2nd scream off the 2nd fret 3rd string.  This is a good one to know how to do for VH.  Or turning heads in a music store when you're trying out a guitar.  Either or...:)

This is tricky.  It's very tough to tab.  You'll want to re-bend the 9th fret tap without ever really releasing it.  See video for help.

This is the turn around chord pattern.  Pretty typical of classic rock, it's used as a lead in to the tom tom beat solo.

Chorus section with lead

Guitar 1, (the Sammy like character) plays the chorus chords as tabbed earlier.  Guitar 2 (Edmund Vin Heuton) plays the lead portion.

NOTE:  The Whammy bar is very important to this riff.  Not all whammy bar hits are tabbed.  To avoid confusion I kept the tab simple.  Please see the video lesson for help with this section.

The solo is over the main riff.  So off of the F#, A, B, E, chord pattern.  I did the solo in this position to give you another position you can use for keys like this when playing within the VH guitar style.

Ending harmonized chorus

What I've done here is very similar in theory to what's going on with LWAN.  Two different parts are being done by two different players.  Vin Heuton is in your Left speaker, and a Sammy like character is in your Right speaker.

I will give you analysis of this on the video of course, but we've covered harmonized leads on other lessons. Including the Boston lesson in Beyond VH, and also on my "Lead Guitar 101" DVD.

Take note of the differences between the two guitar parts below, there's a lot of take note of here.  If you were to do this as 1 guitar in a live setting, you would probably want to do guitar 2 or the "Edmund Vin Heuton" part.

Guitar 1:  The Sammy like character's part.  In your RIGHT speaker.

Final ending (Guitar 2)

Notice that this chord is 1 octave lower than what guitar 1 ended on.  This is a common 2 guitar live thing that originated way back with the Beatles and even earlier.  Zep also did it a lot, although it was an overdub on the records of course.
