Intro/Verse #1

Pretty much this track kicks in with the verse...
There are only 3 main parts to the track rhythmically, however there are in some cases 3 separate guitar parts..

What we're going to look at throughout this lesson is how the lead guitar relates to and interacts with the rhythm guitar....  Our main focus will be the lead guitar, but of course the entire track is tabbed out and color coded in some spots for ease of reading...  You'll need the video lesson to the get most out of this, as this is less about how the song is played, and more about the structure of the song...

Bridge turnaround

In a song like this the bridge needs to have tension build up..
It's supposed to walk you to the chorus...  I know this isn't a songwriting lesson it's a lead guitar lesson, but I still like to give tips and point some other things to notice as you go through the track lesson....  Take note that I'm adding a bit of "Phrygian" feel here..  Minor scale with a flat 2nd...  Although technically that's not what's happening because of the "G#" from the E Major scale the vibe is roughly the same...  The "F" pitch being the flat 2nd..  Although we use that same feel to end the verse...  The feel is more prominent here...

Chorus

The chorus is made up of 3 guitar parts..
Only 2 of which you really hear...  There's a guitar 3 rhythm part down the middle in the mix that's equal with the bass in level that simply fills in the gap left in the middle that guitar's 1 and 2 leave...  I'm only going to tab the guitar 1 and 2 parts, and I'll show you the guitar 3 part on the video lesson...  This is after all a LEAD guitar lesson, so let's look at the 2 lead guitars here....

Basic rhythm guitar 3 chords that our guitar's 1 and 2 are weaving around...  Take note that we're in C# minor here for our chorus...  Which is the "relative minor" of our primary key of "E".

Solo

The solo is done over the Verse, Bridge and Chorus in its second half..
This lesson is on melodic leads so on the video lesson I'm going to explain how this solo was put together and why it works....  Use it as a guideline for you to do your own or similar type lead along with the jam tracks....

with light Phase 90.

** From here the song ends with a shortened verse, bridge and a doubled chorus out to the ending fade out...

The final ending chords of the song are laid out below...
However I would hope that you would continue to solo over the final outro as well, using some of the concepts I will cover on the video lesson...
