Jeff's Lesson Notes
"Funkin' with the Devil"
This is part 2 of our online Funk style guitar lesson series. This lesson is not only fun, but also I think a great springboard for ideas on how you can apply different techniques to the various cover songs you enjoy playing, and make them into other things. As our example for this lesson I've taken a VH classic, "Runnin' with the Devil" and embellished, and twisted the riffing into a completely different guitar style.
Not only is it a great learning experience to do things like this to songs you know, but also it's just fun too. Making things like Metal or Rock tunes into Jazz or Funk tunes is good exercise for your creative muscles....
On the video lesson I will go into graphic detail on the techniques involved with a track like this, and also as a bonus theory type lesson, we'll examine what I've done to change the RWTD riff, and at the same time we'll look at what I haven't changed about it...
Enjoy the lesson, and I hope you dig the song track... I warmed up the Marshall JCM 800 for this one...
