Guitar 1: muted delay
hit section
The trick here is to
not get ahead of or behind the Delay. The chorus is used to enhance the
sound and brighten the delay in this case as well.

Guitar 1 simply continues on driving the open 4th string with slight palm mute.
Guitar 2:
Chord section
It's not tabbed but you'll
want to ghost pick the notes of these chords. This done by lightly
picking the main chord notes as you let the chord ring out. The delay will
pick that up and echo it for you.

Main Kick in
Full band kicks in here
with a brick in the wall sort of theme sort of cross bread with Hey you a little
bit.
Channel 1 used (lighter gain)
Middle and Front pick up used
You'll want to take a lesson
from the "Funky Chunky" lesson I have up on the JFRocks Lessons page for this
picking sequence. There is a lot going on with this section of song.
My vision for it was taking one of my favorite parts from Hey you and sort of
blending it with the whole "we don't need no education thing" from brick in the
wall.
There are 4 main guitar parts
here. Each part is tabbed for you and color coded.
Guitar 1: Main chord
riff. This riff is pretty constant throughout the song, with only
slight strumming variations.

the 3rds, guitar 4 does the 5ths. See video for help...

Mock
Numb solo
Key change: D Major
This is an Embellishment off
of the Comfortably numb guitar solo, I altered the chord pattern slightly and
mixed up the phrasing a bit. The lesson here is for you to try to
notice the scale that's in use here, and more importantly how it's being
used. There are some large bends in places, but also some small ones too.
These bends are what give it it's feel and flow, even more so than the scale
that's being used per say.

Hey You break
Key change: Back to D minor
This section is similar to
what we did with the Brick in the wall part, but it's a different pattern
and more modeled after what's happening in the break section of Hey You.
Again, there is far more lesson here than what I can explain on video I'm sure.
I encourage you to draw some conclusions as to what's happening here by
examining the chords, and also looking at the scale that's in play and
specifically what notes are being bent up to.

Mock
Brick solo
This is just an embellished
version of a Floyd classic. I did it the way I did it for lesson
purposes. I wanted to throw in a few of the classic Gilmour moves so that
we could talk about those to be sure that everyone is clear on how to do them.
I suggest a strat for this solo or the brick in the wall solo. I also
suggest you turn the tone to 6 and you use the middle position of the switch,
which is all of the pickups usually. I've always found that that's the
best sound, but it does depend a lot on the room you're in.
Channel 2 (Thicker gain)
Middle position of the switch was used
Guitar 2 plays the
rhythm we've already covered off the Dm chord.
This is basically all just Dm to C.
We're also
back to Dorian mode

Song
ending
This is mostly just the same
as it started with more delay off of the open 4th string.
There is one little slick Floyd
style riff in this ending and it plays off the delay as well. The setting
is actually a little slower on the time. Basically you want to use the
same settings given in the chart at the beginning of these song tabs, but crank
up the delay time knob to pretty much all the way up. For an 800ms delay
on the Boss DD3 or DD6 which I'm sure most of you have.
