Intro (5/4 time)

There are 6 guitar parts 2 of which are recorded twice i.e. at the same time.  There's a lot of confusion among players as to how to make White Room for example sound good in a live setting..  The fact is if you follow most tabs that are out there for it, it will never sound right.  It's not the transcribers fault, he or she is simply making it understandable to a general audience, and transcribing it the only way possible..  I however am here to show you a trick or two..

It's a recording trick really.  The riffing itself is done with double stops, however the double stops or two notes played together are played as single note riffs recorded on different tracks and then split in the speakers during mix down..  This is done three times, twice for each pitch in the double stop...  This is tricky and can't be done live with less than 4 to 6 guitars..  Since most bands don't have 4 or 6 guitarists it's a little rough, so I'll show you on the video what you can do...

The tabs below are color coded..  Each color represents a guitarist..  Technically there are 4 guitarists needed to play what's below.  Be sure to apply heavy vibrato to EVERYTHING below....

Guitars 1 & 2 = Black TAB  Wah throughout..  With each note hit depress the wah and vibrato the note...

This is also the way this sort of "White Room" type thing is sometimes transcribed.

Main riffing & song (4/4 time)

This is a simple D, C add9 to G/B guitar riff, that's done under all of the leads..  It's a nice representation of the main riffing in White Room, but more importantly the chords are very common to this era of this style...

**Wah goes on for some parts and off for others..  But the riff is always the same...  It's tabbed once below...

Bridge

There are two guitar parts to the bridge, both doing very "Clapton like" things...  Guitar 1 is the rhythm guitar part and is using the wah to accent and vibrato chord hits..  Guitar two is doing a wah fueled melody riff...

Guitar 1 = Black TAB. Rhythm guitar...  Wah throughout, see video for detailed lesson and explanation..

Solo #1

These solos use a combination of wha depressions, and vibrato, mixed with subtle bends..  It's important that you don't over vibrato, or go out of time with the wah, otherwise you'll lose the vibe a bit and end up sounding more like a space alien on the guitar rather than Clapton like...

**ALL SOLOS are done over the Verse chord pattern tabbed earlier..  D, C add9, G/B, C add9.  Basically, all fancy names aside it's just a "D, C, G, C" chord pattern...

Wah throughout...  see video for additional lesson and technique help..
